Get in Touch

I read every email that comes in, usually with coffee and my garden notebook open beside me. You can reach me at [email protected]. The site has no contact form, so email is the way to reach me.

What to Write About

  • Questions about your garden. Tell me your state or USDA zone, what you are growing and what you have already tried. A photo helps a lot with pests, diseases and winter damage.
  • Corrections. Tell me which article has the error and what you found, with a source if you have one. My research and correction process explains how I check reader reports and update articles.
  • Results from your yard. Some of my favorite updates came from readers in zones 3 and 8 telling me how a method worked where they live.
  • Topic ideas. If a garden job confuses you and I have not covered it, I want to know.

What I Cannot Help With

I cannot visit gardens, diagnose a plant with certainty from a single photo or advise on structural, electrical or major plumbing work. For a sick tree near your house or a burst pipe, call a certified arborist or a licensed plumber.

I also do not accept guest posts, sponsored articles or paid links.

When to Expect a Reply

I answer most emails within five business days. October and early May are my busiest months in the garden, so replies can take longer then.

Before you write, you may want to know what happens to your email after you send it. In short, I use it to reply to you and nothing else.
